EMPLOYMENT: SADC-WaterNet Professor of Integrated Water Resources Management Chair (2 posts)
- Provide academic leadership to the Department to which she or he is appointed;
- Provide academic guidance and academic quality to the WaterNet Master Programme in Integrated Water Resources Management at the two universities;
- Provide leadership in acquiring and implementing research projects and supervising dissertation projects;
- Convening special sessions of the annual WaterNet-WARFSA-GWP-SA Symposia;
- Sitting on the regional review board of the WaterNet Master Programme;
- Supporting research capacity building in the region including WARFSA funded projects;
- Mentoring academic staff development; and
- Other areas of research, teaching and service assigned by the employing university.
The successful applicant must hold an earned PhD and have an excellent international research and publication record in field relevant to IWRM as well as having successfully supervised PhD students. She or he must be appointable on merit as a professor at the employing university. Previous experience in a position of leadership at a higher education institution, experience of the NGO or network environment and a working knowledge of Portuguese and/or French will be added advantages.
In addition to the package offered by the employing university, WaterNet shall provide the incumbents with a responsibility allowance and a discretionary fund to facilitate their effective operations.
