Changing Market Relations
Commercialization of agriculture in many developing countries has sparked a growing movement toward privatization of property rights. However, depending on how other markets evolve, such trends will have differential effects on the evolution of property institutions governing natural resources. Research under this theme addresses such questions as:
- What kind of role does collective action play in increasing commercialized agriculture?
- How does commercialization affect property rights or other local institutions?
