Workshop on Collective Action and Property Rights for Poverty Reduction
September 26, 2006, Washington, DC, USA

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the CGIAR Systemwide Program on Collective Action and Property Rights (CAPRi) held a workshop on "Collective Action and Property Rights for Poverty Reduction" on September 26, 2006 at IFPRI's headquarters in Washington, DC.

This workshop presented findings from a collaborative research project that aims to contribute to poverty reduction by identifying policies and practices that enhance the ways in which collective action and property rights are used to build secure assets and income streams for and by the poor. With sites in 7 countries in East Africa, South Asia and South East Asia, the research project involves 25 national agricultural research center collaborators, 4 CGIAR centers, and 2 German universities. This one-day workshop brought together project leaders, researchers, and collaborators from participating organizations and institutions to discuss and share their ongoing research findings, including opportunities for influencing policy and improving practice.
